Abelardo Tarango

Abelardo Sanez Tarango, 71 of Odessa passed away on December 9, 2021, in Odessa at ORMC

Visitation will be from 1pm till 7pm Monday December13, 2021 at Martinez Funeral Home and Crematory.

Celebration of Life service will be at 6pm. Monday evening at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.

Tuesday December 14, 2021, Visitation will be in Van Horn, Texas from 9am to 12pm at Heritage Funeral Home, Van Horn, Texas. Burial will be at 2pm, Van Horn Cemetery.

Abelardo was born in Los Fresnos, Chihuahua Mexico to Enrique Tarango and Esther Sanez Tarango on August 30, 1950. He attended school in Van Horn and later moved to Odessa where he spent most of his adult life. Abelardo was a hard worker and had many friends. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a man of many trades and was never afraid to take on a challenge. Material things were of no value to him. He chose to live a simple and humble life. Telling stories was a favorite past time of his even though his stories didn’t always make sense. During his short stay at the nursing home, he would spend time coloring to pass the time. The pictures he colored were gifted to friends, loved ones, and family. Abelardo accepted Jesus Christ as his lord and savior. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Those who knew him will understand “He knew his rights!”

Abelardo is preceded his parents Enrique and Ester Tarango.

Abelardo is survived by his wife Nellie Tarango. Sons; Abelardo B. Tarango Jr., Alberto B. Tarango. Daughters Margarita (Magic) Tarango, and Martha Gomez and husband Joseph. Grandchildren Abelardo Tarango III, Randy Gomez and Sophia Gomez.

Son Mosies U. Tarango and daughter Sally U. Tarango. Grandchildren Araceli Tarango, Natalie Venegas, Naomie Venegas, and Sebastian De La O. Brothers; Enrique Tarango and wife Pancha of Pecos, Alberto Tarango, and wife Sara of Odessa. Sisters; Adalinda Tarango of Odessa, Alicia Jacquez and husband Bill of Odessa, Adela Dees and husband Jackie of Van Horn, Joanna (Anna) Talavera and husband Joe of Odessa, David Sanez and wife Claire of Wexford PA. and numerous nephews and nieces.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Manuel Rascon, Abelardo’s friend and neighbor for the care and kindness towards Abelardo. Also, our gratitude to the staff at Focused Care in Odessa.
