Agapita Hernandez

Agapita Jimenez Hernandez, 93 of Odessa, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020 in Odessa.

Visitation will be held from 9am to 9pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 with a Rosary at 7pm at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Martinez Funeral Home and Crematory.

Agapita was born on December 28, 1926 in Presidio, Texas to Luis Jimenez and Rita Huereque. She married Faustino C. Hernandez on January 19, 1947 in Presidio, Texas. Agapita was a dedicated housewife who loved birds, crocheting and quilting for every grandchild.  Her favorite color was purple.

Agapita is preceded in death by her parents Luis and Rita (Huereque) Jimenez, brothers; Luis Jr., Emigido and Gregorio Jimenez, sisters; Ester Garcia and Celia Sosa, granddaughter; Rita Kay Hernandez.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years Mr. Faustino Hernandez, sons; Joe Eddie (Sonya) Hernandez, David (Julie) Hernandez of Corpus Christi, daughters; Elia Hernandez, Elsa (Stephen) Abila of Hobbs, NM and Eustolia (Ruben) Prieto, brother; Refugio Jimenez, 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Prieto, Jacob Hernandez, Tim Hernandez, Thomas Hernandez, Marc Anthony Prieto, Brandon Clark.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jacob Hernandez Jr., Easton Hernandez, Jacob Rodriguez, Adrian Rodriguez, Codey Sparks, Andon Rodriguez and Bryson Love.
