Alberto Matta Jr.

Alberto V. Matta Jr., 59 of Odessa, TX, passed away on Thursday December 14, 2017 in Midland, TX. Family viewing will be held on Sunday December 17, 2017 from 6-pm to 9 pm. Monday December 18, 2017, viewing will be from 9am to 9pm with Rosary beginning at 7pm. Funeral services will be held at 10am Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Odessa, TX with Rev. Bernardito Getigan officiating. Burial will follow at Balmorhea Cemetery at 2pm. Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home.

Alberto was born in Pecos, TX to Alberto Matta Sr. and Valvina Matta on October 5, 1958. He attended and graduated from Balmorhea High School. He worked as a Supply Technician for Fort Bliss William Beaumont Hospital in El Paso, TX for over 20 years. He was a veteran of the armed forces as a Seargent (E-5) and served in the Army for 8 years.

Alberto is preceded in death by his father Alberto Matta, Sr.

Alberto is survived by his son Alberto Matta III, and his daughter Evangelina Matta, his mother Valvina Matta, his brothers Alex Matta, Ruben Matta, sisters Longina Contreras, Bertha Casias, Delia Muniz, and Denise Soto, and his three granddaughters Ariyana, and Azaria Matta and Lyndon Lewis.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Matta, Mike Contreras, Jake Contreras, Jason Casias, Steven Casias, Marc Casias, Isaiah Casias, and Bianca Muniz.

Memorial may be given to Martinez Funeral Home. The family of Alberto Matta wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Desert Milagro Dialysis Center, Nurses Unlimited and the nurses at Midland Memorial Hospital critical care unit.
