Alexis “Lexi” Lee Luna, 19, of Odessa, Texas gained her angel wings on Monday, September 6, 2021, in Odessa, Texas.
Visitation for Alexis will be held 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. Funeral Service is to be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at First Church of Nazarene; burial will immediately follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Everyone knew Alexis as Lexi. Her heart was pure and genuine. She touched many, many lives in her 19 short years on this earth. She was a mother, a daughter, a sister to many, many family members and friends, a best friend, a mentor, a coach and a tia. Alexis was too special for this earth. Her smile and laugh were contagious. She said, “I’ll be here forever” and she is.
Alexis was born in Odessa, Texas on September 17, 2001, to David and Liza Luna. She attended Odessa High School and graduated in 2020. She worked as a case worker for the Health Department of Odessa. Lexi was involved in many activities. She played volleyball, basketball, cross-country, track, baseball, and softball. She was apart of the Elite Volleyball Club and West Texas Outkast softball. Lexi received many medals and awards during her time playing sports. She was the one and only person to receive the Spirit Leader Award.
Alexis is preceded in death by her aunt, Obdulia “babe” Nunez; grandfather, Jesse Valenzuela; and great-grandma, David Luna.
She is survived by her 7-month-old daughter, Katalina Lee; her parents, David and Liza Luna; brothers, Juan Valenzuela, Ja’Ray Ramos, Alejandro Nunez and wife, Monica; sisters, Lorena Hernandez, Deja Luna; grandparents, Larry and Leticia Kaminski; grandfather, Julian Luna; grandmother, Eva Munoz; aunts, Ami Garza and husband, Jeffrey, Monica Hinojos and husband, Fabian, Jessica Valenzuela and husband, Jessie; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers are as follows: Juan Hernandez, Alek Hernandez, Ryan Watson, Ty Watson, Sylvia Dutchover, Jalan Ramirez, Isaiah Rubalcado, Ethan Nunez, and Jimmy Porras.
Memorials may be given to Martinez Funeral Home. The family of Alexis Luna wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Medical Center Hospital, friends, and everyone who has shown love and support.
