The Home-Going of Alice Lorene Johnson
The angels guided Alice Lorene Johnson to the New Jerusalem, where she was met by the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost and the mighty cloud of witnesses on Wednesday, April 22, 2020. There she shall dwell in the House of the Lord, forever.
Services for Alice will be conducted by the Reverend Samuel L. Buhl of St. James Missionary Baptist Church at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at 10:00 AM with interment to immediately follow at Ector County Cemetery, Odessa II Section. Due to the current health crisis, only immediate family will be allowed to attend the service.
Alice was born on September 11, 1941 to Julia Mae and Oscar Phillips in Mexia, Texas. She married Robert Johnson in Houston, Texas in 1970. Alice and her children moved to Odessa, Texas in 1981. She was a long standing member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and participated in many other church functions.
Alice’s parents, Julia Mae and Oscar Phillips; sister, Charlie Mae Laury; brother, Eugene Davis; nieces, Audrey Faye Lee and Darlena Rand, predeceased her. Alice is survived by her son, Steven Ray Johnson; daughter, Yolanda Nyree Johnson; granddaughters, Azure Nyree Johnson and KyLeigh d’Lyn Johnson; sister, Eula Faye Rand; a host of nieces and nephews; along with numerous dear friends.
Alice will be remembered as the best mother and Granny in the whole wide world and a wonderful friend to many. She will be immensely missed by her family, extended family, and all who loved her and called her friend. We all look forward to the day where we will see her again; but until then, she will forever live in our hearts.
