ALVIN RAY ALFORD

Alvin Ray Alford, age 74, died Saturday, July 18, 2020 in Odessa, Texas. Alvin was born October 25, 1945 in Harris County Texas to the parentage of Hardy and Marjorie Alford. Alvin, better known as “Chin” or “Dickie” was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Odessa.
He attended public schools in Odessa and graduated from Blackshear Junior-Senior High School in 1965. Chin participated in football, basketball and track while attending Blackshear. He was also a member of Olympic Hi Y. He enlisted in the US Army after graduating from Blackshear. After the military, he worked at Sam’s Bar-B-Q in Midland, TX.
Chin had a vibrant personality and was full of life. Having made many friends, the phrase “BFF-Best Friends Forever” held special meaning for him. One of his very best friends was his cell phone. He loved to call friends and chat!
Alvin Ray was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Hardy Alford Jr. and Johnny Joe Alford and a sister Molly Durham. He is survived by two brothers Donald Alford and Jackie Ray Alford all of Odessa, TX; a sister Rose Whitfield of Denver, CO; and many other relatives and friends.
We are ever grateful to God for all the special memories of Chin that will live on in our hearts forever.
