Amelia Rico

September 13, 1934 — January 18, 2025

Amelia “Momo” Rico, born September 13, 1934, passed away on January 18, 2025, in Odessa, Texas, at the age of 90.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Martinez Funeral Home Inside Chapel with Her Rosary at 7 PM. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 at 11:30 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

“With a heart filled to the brim with gratitude, we come before You, our Lord, today to express our profound thanks for the healing we have experienced. Your compassion and love have enveloped us, turning pain into comfort and sorrow into joy. Thank you for Your unwavering presence during the times of illness, for Your healing touch that has mended our bodies, minds, and spirits. Your strength has been our refuge, and Your grace has been our healing balm.

Can we each say amen for our Momo! As she grasps the hand of our Lord and Savior, dancing without pain, holding hands, and enjoying every second of this beautiful eternity with her Popo hand-in-hand, taking on the most beautiful graces God has blessed them with in the most righteous Kingdom: Heaven!

Thank you Momo, for being our light, pillar, and focal point of our faith. That one day we can live like you and devote our life as you did exactly as it states in Matthew 25:21. But you were not faithful with a few things, but all things. Thank you!

‘His master replied, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”’ (Matthew 25:21),” Rico Munoz, one of her grandchildren, writes.

Amelia was an example of the virtues of faith, hope, and love, to all that knew her. Her love of and care for God’s creation was seen by all those around her, and her complete trust in God through even the most difficult times was admired by her family and friends. Her beautiful soul and memory will continue to live on in those around her, in the hearts of her family. The reach of her love is still felt beyond her life on this earth and continues to be an example to those who felt it.

Amelia is preceded in death by her husband, Arturo Rico, her mother, Amparo Mireles, and her sisters Anita Molina and Mary Helen Urtado, among many others.

Amelia is survived by her seven daughters, Cecilia, Sylvia (Rudy), Anna (Ernie), Maggie (Danny), Margie(Rudy), Zulema (Baldemar), and Gracie (Harvey), her 25 grandchildren and their spouses, and 34 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

Amelia’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the ORMC CCU Unit, Dr. V, and Dr. M Agusala for the loving care of our Momo in the last few weeks of her life. We would also like to thank the Rivera Family of Star Venue, and Petroplex Field Services for their generosity.

In place of flowers, Amelia’s family would like to ask that a donation be made to Saint Mary’s Central Catholic School.
