Anastacio Sanchez

Anastacio Martinez Sanchez, 98, of Odessa, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016 in Odessa.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-9:00pm Sunday, August 21, 2016 and from 9:00am-9:00pm Monday, August 22, 2016 at Martinez Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at 6:00pm Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Martinez Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Frank Chavez officiating. Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery.

Anastacio was born in Study Butte, Texas to Joe Sanchez and Mauricia Urquieta on December 5, 1917. He was raised and educated in Terlingua, Texas. He worked in the mines of Terlingua. He met the love of his life, Ramona Lopez and they married on October 31, 1943. From this marriage they gained four sons. He proudly served in the Army from 1946-1949 during World War II and was deployed to Japan. After the war, he moved his family to Odessa where he was employed at Sivalls Tanks. He worked there 30 years until his retirement in 1982. Anastacio enjoyed all sports such as football, boxing, and wrestling. He loved spending time with his sons while watching these sporting events. Furthermore, he liked history and learning as much as he could about it. He was involved in the South Side Senior Citizens where he was a loyal member.

Anastacio is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 44 years, Ramona Sanchez, two brothers, Jose Gutierrez, Vicente Urquieta, and sister Lucia Macias.

Anastacio is survived by his sons: Esequiel (Zeke) Sanchez and wife Cathy of Odessa, Joe Sanchez and wife Gracie of Odessa, Eddie Sanchez of Odessa, and Alfred Sanchez and wife Fina of Odessa, his sisters: Maria Molinar of Odessa, Dolores Rivera of Seminole, Andrea Villaba of Seminole, Hortencia Cordova, and Catalina Bermudez of Alpine. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

The family of Anastacio Sanchez would like to thank the Hospice Team of Darrell, Irma, Brigid and Manual for all the wonderful care and love.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Sanchez, Paul Sanchez, Domnick Sanchez, Tacio Sanchez, Ruben Sanchez, and Steven Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers will be Derick Sanchez and Zack Sanchez.
Arrangements are entrusted to Martinez Funeral Home and Crematory.
