Arturo Muñoz, 66 years old, of Odessa, passed away on August 25, 2023, at his home in Odessa, Texas with his beloved wife at his side.
Arturo Muñoz was born in San Francisco, Municipio de Ojinaga, Chihuahua to Merced Rodriguez Soto and Marcelo Muñoz Flores on June 12, 1957. He attended Esuela Secundaria in Ojinaga, Chihuahua. When he entered the United States as a resident, as a young man he lived, worked, and traveled in the Northern midwestern states. He worked at Premier Parking in Odessa, Texas, he also worked as a salesman selling Cutco Knives and then he became a truckdriver for Thermo Fluids/Recon for 20 years. He married Guadalupe Cataño Muñoz on April 24, 2004, in Odessa, Texas. They loved to go out dancing and he loved to have family cookouts. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Odessa, Texas for many years. He and his wife gathered with friends and had Bible Study. Arturo came into his stepchildren’s lives when they were in their mid-teens and early twenties, and they quickly formed an unbreakable bond. He was always there to offer his love, support, and encouragement despite the illness he fought against for many years.
Arturo is preceded in death by his mother, Merced Rodriguez Soto, his father, Marcelo Muñoz Flores and his brother, Jose “Pepe” Muñoz.
Arturo is survived by his wife, Guadalupe Muñoz of Odessa, Texas, his daughter Myra Amy Muñoz, sons Aubrey and Abel Muñoz all from Borger, Texas, stepson Benito Aguirre and wife Heather from Odessa, Texas, his stepdaughter Annabel Peña and husband Jessie from Marfa, Texas, his stepdaughter Raquel Aguirre and husband Danny from Odessa, Texas, and brothers Alfonso, Adolfo and Antonio Muñoz and sister Aurora Martinez.
Arturo also leaves to cherish his memory fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The pallbearers will be Alfonso Muñoz, Nathan Peña, Jessie Peña, Christopher Aguirre, Robert Rodriguez, and Julian Rodriguez.
Visitation is set for Wednesday September 6, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 pm at Martinez Funeral Home and Crematory in Odessa, Texas.
Mass is set for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Carlos Rodriguez officiating.
Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery.
