Atherine Bars, 92, of Odessa, passed away on June 8, 2018 in Odessa, TX.
Visitation for the public will be from 12pm to 9pm Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Martinez Funeral Home 1040 S. Dixie Blvd., Odessa, TX 79761; Family private viewing will be between 11am to 1pm; Wake services from 7pm to 8pm on Thursday.
Funeral services will be held at 10am on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Living Vision Ministries Church with the Pastor Michael Shelton of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery, Odessa II section. Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home.
Atherine Bars was born in Overton, TX to Dan and Willie Sanders on April 30, 1926. She worked as a dietician at Medical Center Hospital for 18 years before retiring. She was an active and faithful member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church until her health started declining her. She enjoyed spending all her time with family, laughing at her great-grandchildren, and let's not forget cheering for her beloved Dallas Cowboys.
Atherine Bars is preceded in death by her parents and 1 grandchild.
Atherine Bars is survived by her 7 children, Bettie Deal, Gloria Bars, Delinda "Cookie" Bars, Roylee Bars, Gary Bars, Kenneth Bars, and Fredrick Bars; 19 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Memorials may be given to Gloria Bars or Damon Bars. The family of Atherine Bars wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Medical Center Hospital and staff, Texas Tech and staff.
