Bertha Ray

Bertha Mae Ray 92 of Odessa passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015 in Odessa, for a better home in Heaven.
Bertha was born in Coolidge, Texas on December 24, 1922 to Wesley C. and Orenzia Mathis. A devoted Christian, she received Christ at a very young age. She attended school and received her education in Coolidge, Texas. She attended Beauty College in Odessa, Texas and became a licensed Beautician. Over the years, she worked at several local hair salons and retired from her labor after working for Crescent Park Baptist Church.
She married the love of her life William (Dick) Ray on November 4, 1938. During their union in marriage seven children were born. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, husband, one grandchild, and one great grandchild.
Bertha is survived by her six children Wilmer Ray, Robert Ray, and Doris Nell Lewis of Odessa, George Ray of Ft Worth, Texas, Billy Clark Ray and Carolyn Owens of Anchorage, Alaska, 19 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 15 great great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives.
There will be a Wake held on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 7PM-9PM at Martinez Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Living Vision Church Ministries, 525 S Grandview Odessa, TX with Elder James D. Porter officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The Ray family would like to especially give thanks to Dr. Life Barnard M.D., Dr. Cody M.D., Dr. Ramanathan M.D., Hack Hestand, and all staff of eight central Medical Center Hospital, all visiting Clergy for your love, care and prayers that were shown toward our dearly beloved mother (Madea)...
