He is also remembered by many loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by wife Robin Lyn Stinnett of Roswell, NM and Sister Eva Montoya of Belen, NM.
Billy was born on April 16th, 1957 in Roswell, NM. He was the fourth of five children and the youngest boy in the family. His mom would say that he was the crybaby of the family, but that he had a smile that lit up the world and green eyes that most would envy. That smile would be his legacy and brighten many people's lives through the years.
Billy never met a stranger and could often be seen striking up conversation with neighbors, random cashiers, and generally anyone that looked in his direction. If you stopped to chat you might want to settle in, he loved to share his life especially if the topic of his children came up. He was a very proud papa and was known to be loudest parent in the stands during high school, so loud that he got kicked out of a game or two. Probably not something most would be proud of, but Billy was passionate about everything his kids did and he maintained that passion as they continue to chase their dreams.
Billy was also a proud grandfather. He took the role very seriously. He was an active participant in both his nephew's life and was known by many of the kids as the "team grandpa." He didn't miss a game, but more importantly, he never missed a practice either. He was often asked to run a play, or be the blocking dummy, which he did, with a smile, because his grandsons asked. He was very well prepared by them, so when his granddaughter arrived, she had him wrapped around her finger at first sight. When he got a visit from her, he always got wrangled into endless rides on the mall carousel, pushing her for hours on the swing, or playing in the pool until she was satisfied. He did all of this, even if he was tired, his back hurt, he was hungry, he would drop everything and that's why they loved them.
Billy was also the family's personal handy-man. His ability to fix both car and house issues, made him the go to call when facing those problems. He shared that gift with all, and he did it with that same smile, a couple of cuss words, a joke on his lips, and oldies in the background. These are just a few of the ways we will remember you, because we know "Those we love, don't go away, they walk beside us every day." ~ Author Unknown
