Christy Mallette Byrd 56, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday July 5, 2023, at the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez VA Hospital in Big Spring, TX. She was born in Odessa, TX to Billy and Margaret Harris on April 25, 1967. She attended school in Hobbs, NM. She graduated from the University of Texas in Arlington, where she received her B.A in Business.
She married Michael Byrd in Colorado Springs. Christy served her country by the way of the United States Army. She worked as a housing officer in Hobbs, Odessa, and Arlington. Christy also worked feeding the homeless and being a videographer.
She is preceded in death by her mother Margaret Ann Harris, grandparents Robert and Clarice Hendrix, and Lorene Harris.
Mallette is survived by her son Quentin (Brenda) Byrd of North Carolina, brothers Chris (Francis) Harris, Billy Harris Jr., and Dexter Payne, sister Angela Benavidez and Father Billy Harris.
Christy also leaves to cherish her memory her granddaughter Amiyah Byrd along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation is set for Thursday July 13, 2023, from 1PM-9Pm with a wake at 7PM at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.
A celebration of life service is set for Friday July 14, 2023, at 3PM at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Darren Willis officiating.
Military Honors will be presented also by the VFW Post 4372 Honor Guard after the service on funeral home grounds.
Cremation will be later.
Honorary pallbearers will be Daryan Benavidez, Chance Benavidez, Lavorick Taylor, Hunter Hawkins, Clint Thomas, and Dwight Randolph Jr.
