Daniel Valdez Lara

Daniel “El Guero” Lara 94 of Odessa, TX, passed away on August 17, 2023, in Odessa, TX. 

Rosary will be held at Martinez Funeral Home on August 29, 2023, at 7:00 PM. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday August 30, 2023, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Chavez officiating. Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery, Rose Hill section. Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home. 

Daniel was born in La Plazuela to Jesus D. Lara and Ursula V. Lara on June 15, 1929, and he was raised as a devoted Catholic. He married Blasa C. Lara on December 5, 1955, in Odessa, TX in Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church. He worked as a man of all trades for many years. He was involved in the Holy Name Society from 1979-2018 and served as an Usher at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for many years. 

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents Jesus D. Lara and Ursula V. Lara. Brothers, Manuel Lara, Jose Lara, Guillermo Lara, Laurencio V. Lara, & Humberto V. Lara. Sisters, Jesusita Venegas, Irma Salgado, & Carmen L. Aguirre. 

He is survived by his loving wife Blasa C. Lara of Odessa, Texas. Sister Lucilla Carrasco & husband Cheno of Odessa, Texas. He was blessed with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   

Pallbearers will be members of the Holy Name Society. 

Memorials may be given to Martinez Funeral Home. We the Lara Family would like to take this time and express our utmost sincere gratitude to each and every one of you for all your prayers and especially your presence with us during this most difficult time.
