David was born on January 24, 1962 in Newport, RI to Mac and Joanne Mckinnis. He married the love of his life, Julie McKinnis on June 19, 1982 in Odessa, Tx. He worked as a Firefighter/Engineer for the City of Odessa for 30 years. He retired on March 31, 2014 to spend more time with his precious grands. He was very passionate and dedicated to his wife and family. David was an avid collector of many things, a prominent member of the community and a friendly face to all. He was preceded in death by his beloved son David Sean McKinnis, his older brother John Travis Dixon, his dad Mac McKinnis, his mother Joanne Atkerson, and his grandmother Forstine “Frosty” Atkerson. He is survived by his precious wife Julie “Bandit” McKinnis, mother-in-law Jo Brown of Odessa, Tx, his brother-in-law Adrian Paschal Blumberg and two nephews of Berkeley, Ca, his daughter Sally Jo McKinnis of Portland, OR, his daughter Rebecca Register of Midland, Tx, his sister Neva, and husband David Cassingham of Hurricane, UT, his Niece Casandra, and husband Adam Galotti along with great nephew Cody Galotti and great niece Lana of Aromas, CA, his nephew Mark Cassingham of San Jose, CA, sister Shanell Hill of Claremore, Ok, and 7 precious grands all of Odessa, Tx., his numerous brothers and sisters of the Odessa Fire Department and a multitude of family and friends made along the way. Though he may be gone from our sight, he will never be gone from our hearts. Today is the day we celebrate his life and share the joyous memories each one of us made with him.
