Dely Garcia of Midland, Texas, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the age of 75 after a battle with cancer.

The memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Martinez Funeral Home located at 1040 S. Dixie Blvd. in Odessa, Texas. Pastor Samuel Rodriguez, Jr. will be officiating the service.

Delia (Dely) Alva Molinar Garcia was born on November 20, 1943 in Study Butte, Texas to Alfredo and Beatrice Molinar. She moved to Odessa, Texas in the 1950s with her family and graduated from Ector High School in 1962. In 1963, Dely met the love of her life, Horacio (Ray) Garcia at AGM Tamale Factory where he worked. For five years, Dely and Horacio maintained contact through written love letters while he served with Navy for four years with a tour in Vietnam for one year. Upon his military discharge, Dely and Ray tied the knot on March 28, 1968 and were married for 51 years. In 1978, their treasure - their son, John-David.

Dely attended evening courses at the University of Texas Permian Basin while balancing a demanding full-time job and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. She worked at the Department of Human Resources for 30 years as a Director where she lead and mentored colleagues to positively impact individuals and families in need. While in retirement, Dely volunteered her time in the community and worked at Communities in Schools, an organization that works directly inside high schools. Dely built positive relationships with high school students (and their families) to empower them to succeed inside and outside the classroom. When she was not volunteering in the community, Dely enjoyed tending to her garden and socializing with her family and friends.

Dely was known as the matriarch of the family, the binding glue and backbone. Dely possessed an abundance of love and unending generosity that positively impacted the lives of many. She was known and referred to as "mom" by immediate and extended family members and those she took in to support, mentor, and care for. Her love and generosity were profound and far-reaching and a true reflection of the divine.

Dely is preceded in death by her father, Alfredo Molinar Sr. and her mother, Beatrice Jaquez Molinar.

Dely is survived by her spouse, Horacio Garcia, her son, John-David Garcia, her sisters, Dora Nunez, Delma Ghavami, and her brother, Alfredo Molinar Jr., her only grandchild, Beilul Garcia, her daughter-in-law, Ariam McCrary Garcia, and her "adopted" children, Charles Hricisak (from Slovakia), Michael Van Dyke (of Midland, TX), Jasmine McQuitty (of Midland, TX), Belinda Nunez Arnold (her first daughter and niece), Conrad Flores (her first son and nephew), Mishiko Flores Passikoff (her second daughter and niece).

The family of Dely wishes to extend a heart-felt and sincere appreciation to the Hospice of Midland and the nurses in particular, Kayla and Annette, who lovingly cared for her during her last days.
