Dominga Castillo Paz

Dominga “Minga” Castillo Paz, 93 of Odessa, Texas passed away surrounded by her family on April 8, 2025.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 10, 2025: 1pm–9pm at Martinez Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10am, Friday, April 11 at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church: 1321 W. Monahans Street, Odessa, TX 79763

Minga was born in Vado de Piedra, Ojinaga Mexico, to Miguel and Paula Castillo on July 18, 1931. She married Margarito Urias Paz on December 13, 1959 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua. Minga immigrated to the United States in 1960. After raising her four beautiful children, she worked as a housekeeper at the Ramada Inn in Odessa. She was a devout member of the Saint Joseph’s congregation since moving to Odessa in 1968. Minga was very strong in her faith, was a member of her "Crucillistas" group, and could always be spotted at mass on Sunday morning looking her best.

Minga is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Margarito, her mother, Paula Carrasco, father Miguel Castillo, her brothers Angel Castillo, Daniel Castillo, Jose Leon Castillo, Abel Castillo, her sister, Trine Castillo Ramirez and her grandsons Albert Carrasco Jr. and Nikolas Moralez.

Minga is survived by her sister, Tomasa Castillo Gomez, brothers Alfredo Castillo, Salvador Castillo, Rogelio Castillo, Rafael Castillo, children, Saul Paz Sr. (m. Elsa), Mary Paz, Alma DeWitt (m. Steve), and Norma Ansell (m. Jeff), her grandchildren, Luis Zubiate Jr. (m. Xitlali), Saul Paz Jr. (m. Heather), Stephanie Aguirre (m. Joaquin), Zackariah Carrasco, Paul Paz, Sloane Ansell-Fischl (m. James), and Ney Paz, and her great grandchildren, Adalyn Zubiate, Noah Aguirre, Nixon Aguirre, Evolette Paz, Harlow Aguirre, Luis Carlos Zubiate III and Saul Paz III.

Pallbearers are Joaquin Aguirre, Zack Carrasco, Paul Paz, Luis Zubiate, Saul Paz, and James Fischl. Honorary Pallbearer is Noah Aguirre.

Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery Rosehill Section Friday, April 11, 2025: 11:30am–Noon

After the internment, we invite friends and family to join us for a time of fellowship at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church's Hall located at 907 S. Dixie Boulevard.
