Dorothy Hinojos

August 7, 1941 — November 26, 2023

Dorothy Urias Hinojos-82 yrs. young of Odessa Texas passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy Urias Hinojos was born to Manuel Contreras Urias and Alvina Gonzales Urias on August 7, 1942 in Ft. Stockton Texas. She was the fourth daughter in the line of five children, the oldest child being a son. The family moved to Odessa in approximately 1954 or 1955. She started sixth grade at Milam Elementary School, attended Crockett Junior High School then Ector High School.

Dorothy met our father, Paul when she was in the sixth grade and he was in the seventh grade at Crockett Junior High. They feel in love and were inseparable from that time on. They started a family, having two sons, Armando and Rolando Hinojos. They married on May 6, 1961 and were married for over 60 years. 

Dorothy went to beauty school to become a hairstylist, a profession she enjoyed for over 30 years. She especially enjoyed getting to know her clients many of whom became very good  friends.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. After her husband, Paul, became a Deacon, she remained behind-the-scenes as an active supporter of his ministry, attending workshops, meetings, marriage classes and assisting when necessary.

 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her Grandmother, Marina Alvarado Gonzales; her parents Manuel Contreras Urias and Alvina Gonzalez Urias; brother Edward G. Urias; sister Alicia Urias Alderette; niece Rayma Elizabeth Aguilera; and nephew Armando Alderete.

 

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Paul Rodriguez Hinojos, her siblings: Elodia Urias Aguilera (Raymundo Aguilera), and Josephine Urias Rodriguez (Lazaro Rodriguez), her children: Rolando Saul Hinojos, and Armando Urias Hinojos (Corina Rios Hinojos), and her grandchildren: David Adam Hinojos, Mykel-Paul E. Hinojos, and Daniel Arlando Hinojos.

Other survivors include: Nieces: Delma C. Aguilera, Darlene M. Garcia (Ray Garcia), Rebecca A. Mendoza, Rosemary Alderete, Erin Urias Lohoefer, Judy Urias Evans (Husband Justin), Nephews: Rick Molinar (Anna Molinar), and Raymond J. Aguilera, Great-nieces: Rebecca Marie Garcia, Regina Antoinette Aguilera, Paula D. Gomez, Reba Gomez, Melissa Aguilera, Amber Lopez, Ellis Evans, Elam Evans and Great-nephews: Joseph M. Garcia, Ray A. Garcia Jr., Thomas E. Garcia, Benjamin N. Garcia, Ricky E. Molinar, Michael J. Aguilera, Paul M. Nunez, Benjamin Lopez, Fabian R. Gomez, Jacob Aguilera, Raymond A. Aguilera, Dravin Aguilera, Luke Lohoefer, Jake Lohoefer.

 

Pallbearers will be: Rolando S. Hinojos, David A. Hinojos, Mykel-Paul E. Hinojos, Daniel A. Hinojos, Rudy Cabrera, and Moses Moreno.

 

Visitation will be held on Sunday December 3rd from 1-9 pm with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 4th at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Fr. Joe Uecker officiating.  Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery Los Angeles, 300 S. Dixie Blvd. Odessa Texas.

 

Dorothy's family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Hailey and Mary at Home Hospice Nursing, Ernesto Fabela and the Fabela Family, Father Joe Uecker, the Guadalupanas, Cursillistas, and K of C Organization.   We would also like to thank Father Chavez and St. Joseph's Catholic Church for the use of the church and the church hall. A special thanks to Joel Gonzalez, Doug Tucker and Javier Gonzales at Martinez Funeral Home.  Many thanks to Paul's sisters for helping us with home preparations for guests. Thank you Darlene M. Garcia for stepping up and doing more then you needed to. 

For anyone else that we may have forgotten that helped us out, forgive us. We truly appreciate the outpour of love and support during this time.
