Douglas Antrim, 72, passed away on April 12, 2018 in Odessa, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 27, 2018, at All Saints Episcopal Church in El Paso, TX with Father Mike Wallens officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home of Odessa.
Known to family and friends as the Supreme Commander of the Universe, Douglas Antrim was born in Hamilton Ohio to Mae Etta Skeeters and Douglas Antrim on November 16, 1945. He attended Irvin High School in El Paso. He married Nancy Mae Antrim on August 19, 1972 in El Paso. He graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a bachelor's degree in education focusing on special education. He taught for the Ysleta ISD for 38 years mostly at Eastwood High School where he made many lifelong friends. After his retirement, he moved to Grandfalls where he served in the volunteer fire department, alongside his son Kenny, daughter Stephanie, daughter-in-law Ashley, and grandson Scott.
Doug was a veteran of the Viet Nam War and served in the Army continuing his service with the National Guard. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Viet Nam Service Metal, the Viet Nam Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mae Etta Antrim, and his great grand-daughter Maisley.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Nancy Mae Antrim, his daughters Megan Antrim, Stephanie Ballard, Heather Andrus her husband Dave Andrus, and his son Kenneth Antrim and his wife Ashley Antrim: his grandchildren Autumn Andrus, Walker and Aubree Antrim, Scott Antrim and great grandson Langston.
Doug will always be remembered by all who knew him, for his quick wit, sense of humor, and his sarcastic side.
