Earnest Lee Rogers, 69, a retired machinist, departed this life on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at his sister's residence in Odessa, Texas.
Earnest was born August 15, 1948, to the late Harry Rogers and Surfronia Rogers.
He attended Blackshear and graduated from Ector High School in Odessa Texas. He joined the U.S. Army in 1969 where he served two years in Vietnam. While serving in the Army he received many medals. National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Champaign Medal W/60 Device; Army Commendation Medal; Sharp Shooter M/16 Rifle; Expert M/14 Rifle and Engineer Repairman with a Honorable Discharge.
His interests included having gatherings with family and friends.
His favorite sport was football. His favorite team was Greenbay Packers. He like to fish and he like to listen to Jazz. He had a great memory and could be funny and playful at times and he enjoyed joking around with people.
He was proceeded in death by his father Harry Rogers, his mother Surfronia Rogers, his step father John Aaron and his four brothers, Willie Rogers, Robert Rogers, Tommy Rogers and DL Rogers, one nephew Curtis Wayne Rogers.
He is survived by his two sister's: Earnestine and Wade Bradford, and Shirley Jones. One brother: O'Neill and Lynda Rogers all of Odessa. He also has a host of nieces, nephews, great niece and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 19, 2018 and Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 1pm - 5pm at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 1:00 PM at King Solomon Baptist Church, 230 Bunch Street Odessa, Texas. Services will be officiated by Bishop G.T. Garnett II, followed by graveside service at Odessa Garden II Cemetery.
