Edna M. Ramirez, 92, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021, in Odessa, Texas.

Edna M. Ramirez was born in Ozona, Texas to Ernesto D. Martinez, Sr., and Leonor T. Martinez.  She attended school in Ozona, Texas.  Edna married the love of her life Jaime A. Ramirez Sr. on March 9, 1947 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ozona, Texas.  She received her G.E.D from Odessa College in 1978 at the age of 49.  Edna was a clerk and then a Judge for the Ector County Elections Office for many years. She was involved with the Odessa Basin Lions Club as a Lioness, a volunteer with many non-profit organizations, Travis Elementary PTA,  March and Pro-Life Movement,  Lead-Teacher and Board Member at Interfaith Sewing Center, CCD teacher at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, President of the Legion of Mary at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, taught Rosary making for St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Rosary Group and ministered to the sick by bringing them communion at Medical Center Hospital.  Edna gladly attended and assisted at the Southside Senior Citizens Center.  Edna also assisted her dear friend Teresa Carrasco with coordinating of the early Sunday Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  She really enjoyed the fellowship following Sunday Mass as she helped count the Sunday collection in which she took great pride in accuracy.

Edna M. Ramirez is preceded in death by her Husband Jaime A. Ramirez Sr., her Parents Ernesto D. Martinez Sr., and Leonor T. Martinez, and Simona G. Martinez; Brothers: Ernesto Martinez, Jr., Samuel Martinez, Santiago “Jimmy” Martinez; Sisters: Olga Martinez, Olga “Olgita-Gogi” Martinez; Sisters-in-law, Andrea Martinez, Stella Martinez, Connie Martinez, Elvira Martinez, Nevis Martinez; Son-in-Law David S. Reyes; Grandsons: Roland Ramirez, Jr. and Joel Ramirez.

Edna is survived by her children: Roland Ramirez Sr. (Jerri Levario); Jaime “James” (Cathy) Ramirez; Stella (Ron) Lee; Leonor R. Reyes, Gilda (Ralph) Jimenez; Siblings: Sergio Martinez, Alonzo Martinez, Eva Armesto, and sister-in-law Elena Martinez.  Also left to cherish her memories are many many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great-Great Grandchildren.

Pall Bearers will be Adrian Ramirez, Domonic Ramirez, Xavier Ramirez, Chris Jimenez, Greg Jimenez, Devon Subia, Freddy Subia, David Franco and Jesse Franco.

The family of Edna M. Ramirez wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Brenda and staff of Martinez Funeral Home, to Dr. Chittur Ramanathan and Nurse Susie, Dr. Manohar Angirekula, Dr. Joy Okwuwua, the staff of Hospice of Odessa-Midland, Edna’s special friend and provider  (12 years) Maria; the St. Joseph’s, St. Anthony’s, St. Mary’s friends and “family”; the Southside Senior Citizens staff “family”; the Sisters of Notre Dame, Monsignor Robert Bush, Reverend Frank Chavez, Reverend Joe, Rev. Bernardito, Deacon Reuben Reyes, Deacon Bobby (Candel) Wright, St. Joseph’s, St. Anthony’s , and St. Mary’s Catholic Churches staff, friends, “family”, the legionnaires; and special thanks also to the Prayer Warriors and so many other friends, relatives, and thoughtful people that kept Edna in their prayers, kept her going strong and good spirits.  Our sincere thanks to the ladies who brought Edna her last communion at home.  Thank You to the May family, Alyssa, the friends of Eisenhower Church of Christ, Odessa, and everyone who sent special cards, children sending words of encouragement along with their drawings.  These made Edna really happy and lifted her spirits. Thank you, dear friends and family, for flowers, food, phone calls, texts, and especially prayers and sharing your faith and bringing us comfort with your presence.  To the Davila group who came to serenade Edna on her 92nd birthday. Special Thanks to Trina, of La Margarita Restaurant, for your kindness, love, and delicious capirutada for Mom the last time we dined there.

Please continue to keep us, Edna’s family, in prayer and especially for the repose of her soul.  God Bless each of you, with all our Love.
