Frank “Woody” Speight was born in Wilson, NC to Walter E. and Annie L. Speight on October 1, 1941. He married Louisa M. Archuleta on May 30, 1972 in Odessa, TX. He worked as a driller in the oil field for over 30 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army for 12 years, having participated in 2 tours; Big Red One (1st Infantry Division) and the 173rd Airborne Brigade. He was well decorated and was awarded with a Silver Star, a Purple Heart, Master Parachutes and Combat Infantry Badges.
Frank is preceded in death by both parents, his wife Louisa, and his 2 siblings Efton Smith-Speight and Paula “Hope” Speight-Martin.
Frank is survived by his 5 children: Cynthia Carrillo, Corky Speight, Benjamin Speight, Timmy Speight, and Jason Speight, and 6 Grandchildren: Kristina Amador, Jesse Amador, Aaliyah Carrillo, Aalyssa Carrillo, Lorili Landers, and Dawn Marie Rae, as well as his nephews Jeff Speight and Scottie Martin and his niece Crystal Soper of North Carolina.
The Speight family wishes to extend special thanks to the doctors and nurses of MCH, Doc William Mertens and Donald Luce, his fellow veterans who kept in touch over the years.
Graveside services include a Military Funeral Honors Ceremony on Monday, May 9, 2022 @ 9am at Rose Hill Cemetery in Odessa, Texas.
