Frederick Mcnabb

Frederick E. (“Ken”) McNabb, Jr., Odessa, Texas, passed away on December 26, 2021, at the Laman, Lusk, Sanchez Veterans Home in Big Spring, Texas.  At Ken’s request, there will be no service.  Ken requested that we all remember him alive, and know that he will be with us in our hearts forever.  He was fortunate to enjoy the love of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and family members during his lifetime.

Ken was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on April 5, 1930, but he grew up in Marshfield, Missouri.   He served in the United States Air Force during World War II, where he was trained in data processing.  After the service, he lived in Washington, D.C., where he met and married Thelma Louise (“Lassie”) McNabb in 1951 in Washington, D.C.  He was employed at IBM and he and Lassie moved to several locations while he worked for IBM, eventually residing in Jamesburg, New Jersey, where he was active in politics and served as Mayor in the late 1960’s.  They had three children, Susan Elaine Pellino, Kenneth Lee McNabb, and Tracy Lynn Campbell.

In 1971, the McNabbs moved to Orlando, Florida, where they owned a restaurant for a few years, and Ken tried several entrepreneurial occupations including owning a concrete company and selling life insurance before returning to work in the computing industry for Automatic Data Processing in Hialeah, Florida.  The family relocated with him, living in both Davie and Cooper City, Florida.  Ken retired at 55 to return to his roots in Marshfield, Missouri to help his aging parents, where he was a co-owner in the Fair Oaks Motel, among other small business ventures.  Ken and Lassie later divorced, and Ken had two more children, Kenny McNabb and Christopher McNabb.

After returning to Florida to raise his sons, he was employed by Ultimate Software where he continued to work with many of his favorite people from his old days at ADP.  Ken never met a stranger.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruth McNabb, his brother, Mitchell Lee McNabb, his son, Kenneth Lee McNabb, and his sons-in-law, Bill Pellino and Randy Campbell.
