Odessa

Our Daddy, “Pops,” Gilbert N. Del Bosque, 83, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 28,2021. He left peacefully at home surrounded by family. Visitation will be held 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel and 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Sunday, March 7, 2021 with a Rosary scheduled at 7:00 PM. Mass will be held 1:00 PM Monday, March 8, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Father Joe officiating. Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery in the Peaceful Garden section. Dad was born February 3, 1938 in Rivera, Tx to Rosendo and Micaela Del Bosque, he went to school until the 6th grade to work and help the family. He married our Mom Lilia Lerma Del Bosque on August 8, 1958. Dad worked as a welder, pipefitter, roofer, salesman, bookkeeper, and finally, his passion of making Tamales; He loved making them until his illness. Dad was also a member of LULAC and part of the UNION labor board. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and became Grand Knight, an honor he was very Proud of. He was a Parishioner of St. Anthony's Catholic Church until his illness kept him from attending. Dad was such a loving person he enjoyed making us laugh with his corny jokes. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren very much. He will be missed tremendously. Dad was preceded in death by his parents; 6 brothers; 1 sister; grandson, Jr. Jasso; great-grandson, Alec Del Bosque. Dad is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lili; 3 sons, George Del Bosque, Gilbert Del Bosque, both of Odessa, Tx, Ruben Del Bosque(Chila), of San Antonio Tx; 4 daughters, Sylvia Jones(Brocky) of McKinney Tx, Adelina Sheridan(William), Sandra Jasso(Jesse) both of Odessa Tx, JoAnn Galindo(Lorenzo) of Denver, Co, and grandson, (who he raised as a son) Jaime J.J. Del Bosque(Michelle); stepson, Richard Tijerina, and brother, Rosendo Jr. Del Bosque. Pallbearers will be as follows, Ray Del Bosque, Isaac Del Bosque, Alan Jones, Boogie Nunez, Epi Nunez, J.J. Del Bosque, Jordan Jasso, and Jesse Jasso. We would like to give special thanks to his caregiver of many years, Estella Sanchez, who became part of our family. She enjoyed caring for our dad as she would call him "el viejito.” Another special thanks to Girling Community Care and Star Hospice, and to Mom for caring for him; making sure he had his 3 meals daily and snacks in between and making sure he was always comfortable.
