Helen Hudgins Thomas

On September 17, 1942, Helen Elizabeth Hudgins-Thomas was the 2nd child born to Kenchlo Hudgins Sr.and Elizabeth wiley Hudgins. Helen attended schools here in odessa, where she graduated from Blackshear High school. She always looked foward to the ''Blackshear Class Reunion '' to see all her many friends and classmates. In 1959 Helen Met JD. Thomas jr. who had recently moved to odessa. They were married August 4,1961 and to this union 7 children were born. Helen along with her husband confessed their Christianity and joined the Bethlehem Baptist church, under the late Pastor Roscoe Sutton . While being a stay-at- home mom, Helen provided private cleaning services for several families in odessa.She was a past member of Eastern Star, and volunteer for YSE. She loved listening to sermons , and Gospel music music from artists like james Cleveland, Shirly Caeser, and The williams Brothers. She also had an ear for the blues. For thos that knew her, knew she loved lighthouses, Magnolia flowers and leopard print. Helen is preceded in death by her husband J.D. Thomas jr. her parents Kenchlo and Elizabeth Hudgins , brothers Will, Rufus, his twin Leroy Hudgins and Elbert James. She leaves to cherish many memories : Son, Jerry Thomas wife Sheniqua Thomas daughter; Ishmeal (Direada) Hudgins of Arlington tx, Bernadine , and Donna Thomas both of Fort woth , Marilyn Wallace and husband Allen Wallace of Grand Praire Tx, Karen Thomas- Rose and husband Renwick Rose , Pamela Thomas , all of odessa , brother, Raydell Hudgins (ruthie) and KenchloHudgins both of odessa . Nine Grandchildren Shawn'ta, Tishana , LaQuana, Brandon, D'Adrian, Ty-Ron, Tara, Anthony , and Asiah, 16 great grandchildren , and a host of nieces, nephews , cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
