Jack H. Torsy, 85, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021, in Odessa, Texas.
A Memorial Service will be held at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel in Odessa, Texas at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, with Father Mark Woodruff officiating.
Jack Torsy was born on March 4, 1936, to Johannes Baptist and Wilhelmina Torsy in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
He served in the Dutch Royal Navy for 4 years and went on to become Merchant Marine.
Jack and his wife, Tina, moved from their home country to Pecos, Texas in December of 1958. He started his career as a Machinist in 1958, which lasted until his retirement in 2001.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Johannes and Wihelmina Torsy; and a brother, John Baptist Torsy.
Jack is survived by his wife, Tina Torsy of Odessa; 3 children, Leon Torsy and wife, Chris, of Sachse, Texas, Thea Arreguy and husband, Robert, of Odessa, Texas, Deborah Butler and husband, Steven, of Oak Point, Texas; four grandchildren, Nathan Torsy and wife, Genessa of Lubbock, Texas, Christopher Arreguy and wife, Liz of Midland, Texas, Colby Torsy and wife, Jessica of Rowlette, Texas, and Ashleigh Butler of Oak Point, Texas; 5 great grandchildren, Ethan, Ryder, Carter, Philip & Watson (two of whom have Jack's namesake); a brother, Dirk Geerlof Torsy; and a sister, Gertrudis Maria Irene Pikaar.
We would like to extend our utmost appreciation to all the doctors, nurses, and all who assisted with Jack's care. We are also eternally grateful to the hospice nurses and to all those who have traveled far, cooked meals, sent cards, kind words, supported us in prayer – “Thank you” doesn't even begin to express our gratitude.
