James Edward Jerkins   July 18, 1947 - December 6, 2021

On Monday December 6, 2021 "Ed" Jerkins passed away at Medical Center Hospital of stomach cancer.

He was born in Castleberry AL. To Henry and Jessie Jerkins

From a young age he learned to work hard to help the family.

He came from humble people and never forgot that. On March 14, 1965 He married Ruth Kirkland, they had 2 sons, Donald Ray and Stephen Edward.  The family moved to Odessa and Ed started working as a heavy equipment operator.

He always said his brother in law Pete Webb taught him everything he knew.

He loved his job and was one of the best in west Texas.

After his first marriage ended, he met Christy Contreras in January 1994. They were married September 26, 1997 and remained together till his death.

Ed liked to BBQ and watch football and westerns.  He liked to work in the yard and take care if his dogs and cats, as well as his turtles and feeding his birds.

He was preseeded in death by his father Henry, mother Jessie, brothers Edward Ray Jerkins, William H. Jerkins, Johnny Jerkins. Gene Jerkins, sisters Lula Dee Raines and Elaine Jerkins.

He is survived by his wife Christy of Odessa, sons Donald {Cora}  Stephen(Leann} Stepson Mike Longoria, stepdaughter Kathy Morgeson, sisters Melissa Ballard, Henrietta Wilson, Mary Terrell, grandchildren, Ashley Martinez{Paul}, Chase Jerkins{Jenn}, Clayton Jerkins{Sarah}, Blake, Brittany, Elizabeth Faith and Jordan Jerkins. 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
