Joann Barrera age 54 of Odessa TX passed away on Friday June 17, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born in Odessa Tx on April 28,1968 to Abraham Barrera Jr and Frances Dutchover.
Joann worked as a supervisor for medical centers dietary department. Joann was a hard worker and worked hard not just for herself but for her children as well as many others. She was a strong woman and faced everything head on. She always tried to make the best out of life regardless of the tribulations she faced and made sure the people around her were takin care of. She was a selfless woman, so Loving, caring, and genuine especially when it came to her kids, no matter what kind of day she had she always had a smile to greet her kids with. Joann was the type of person who would do any and everything for anyone it didn’t matter who you were. In her free time, she loved to watch 48hours while snacking on sunflower seeds it was her favorite tv show because watching about murder, mystery and crime was her thing except for when her grandson came to her room to hog her tv. Her grandchildren where her world and her children were the light of her life. Spending time and making memories with her grandchildren was so important to her. She would do anything for them no matter what it was and if she didn’t have it, you better believe she would find a way to always make it happen. when she wasn’t spending time with her kids then you would find her out with her best friend Gloria. She was a blessing to so many an angel in disguise.
Joann is preceded in death by her father Abraham Barrera Jr, Grandfather Frank Dutchover, and Grandmother Sulema Dutchover
Joann is survived by her son Stevie Gonzales and wife Bridget Gonzales of Odessa Tx, Son Nathan Gonzales and wife Anjelica of Odessa Tx, Sisters, Blanca Larez of Odessa Tx, Bertha Newman of Midland Tx, Margret Dutchover and Idann Dutchover both of Odessa Tx, Natasha Martinez of Odessa Tx, and Melissa Alvarez of San Antonio Tx; Brothers Ruben and Albert Alvarez of Dallas Tx; Mother Frances Alvarez of Dallas Tx; Grandsons Elijah and Stevieray Gonzales of Odessa Tx; Granddaughters Anna and Amelia Gonzales of Odessa Tx and many nieces and nephews, Aunts and Uncles and cousins.
There’s a beginning, there’s a middle and there’s an end, never say goodbye, I’ll see you later, I’ll see you again; I’ll align the stars just to show my love, to the moon and back and again because Goodbyes are not forever; goodbyes are not the end they simply mean I’ll miss you until we meet again. In the words of “Nana” I love you to the moon and back I’ll see you later……..
Visitation is set for Thursday June 23, 2022, from 1pm-9pm with a rosary at 7pm at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services are set for 10am Friday June 24, 2022, at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel with Father Joseph Uecker officiating.
Cremation will be later.
Pallbearers will be Stevieray Gonzales, Elijah Gonzales, Kristian Dutchover, Jeremiah Martinez, Geno Martinez, and Ismael Subia.
