Joel Rodriguez

Joel Rodriguez, 56, passed away April 7, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born July 28,1965 in Odessa, Texas. He lived in Midland with his wife and son.

Joel, affectionately known as “YoYo”, was born to Leonila and Ruben Rodriguez where he was the 6th out of 8 children. He met the love of his life, Becky Fuentez, in Odessa and were married on March 1, 1986. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Valerie and Joel Jr.

Joel was employed with numerous Taco Villa’s in surrounding areas as a manager. He owned and operated Mi Tio’s Restaurante and Joel’s Restaurante in Lubbock, Tx. before moving to Midland. He took so much pride in his establishments, even naming his restaurant plates based on family names. He enjoyed spending his time with his family and watching the Dallas Cowboys and his Red Raiders, as well as gambling in Las Vegas. He was looking forward to his granddaughter being born.

He was met in heaven by his dad, Ruben Rodriguez and Tio Lelo.

He leaves to cherish his memory - his loving wife Becky and two children Valerie Lopez (Hector) and Joel Jr. He also leaves his mom, Leonila, and his siblings Ruben (Molin), Nancy, Rolando (Elva), Daniel (Maggie), Artemio (Andreina), Rita (Victor), and Carime (Arvey), as well as one soon to be granddaughter. His father-in-law Manuel Fuentez (Lavetta), his mother-in-law Benita Martinez (Rene), sister-in-laws Hilda Matta (Daniel) and Susan Martinez (David). Also, survived by many nieces and nephews.

Pall bearers will be Hector Lopez, Justin Smart, Ruben Rodriguez, Rolando Rodriguez, Daniel Rodriguez, and Artemio Rodriguez.

The family would like to thank the staff at Midland Memorial Hospital.

Visitations will be held at Martinez Funeral Home Monday April 11, 2022 from 1pm to 9pm and Tuesday  April 12, 2022, from 9am to 9pm with a rosary being recited at 7pm at Martinez Funeral Homes Outside Chapel, and on Wednesday April 13, 2022  from 9am till 1:30pm, with Mass to be celebrated at 2pm Wednesday April 13, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church  with Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Monsignor Robert Bush officiating. Services entrusted to Martinez Funeral Home.
