Jose Barrientos

Jose Machado Barrientos, 79, of Odessa, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home with his family on August 6, 2023.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Iglesia Adventista del Séptimo Día, 2680 S. Highway 385, Odessa, Texas.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Iglesia Adventista del Séptimo Día, 2680 S. Highway 385, Odessa, Texas, with Pastor Jorge Poveda officiating.  The burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 6801 E. Highway 80, Odessa, Texas. Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home.  

Jose was born in Ojinaga, Mexico, to the late Jose Angel Barrientos Orosco and Refugio Machado Barrientos Valdez, on September 7, 1943.  He married Maria Teresa Moreno on December 17, 1966, in Saragoza, Distrito Bravo, Mexico.  Jose was a very generous man who was always willing to help others.  He dedicated his life to his family and work.  He enjoyed solving puzzles, living the ranch life caring for a variety of livestock, and sitting on the front porch talking with his family and friends.    

Jose is preceded in death by his parents late Jose Angel Barrientos Orosco and Refugio Machado Barrientos Valdez; by 2 brothers, Alejandro Barrientos and Esteban Barrientos; and 1 sister, Alicia De La Rosa.

Jose is survived by his wife, M. Teresa Barrientos; son, Miguel Barrientos and wife Leticia; daughter, Rosa Olvera and husband Venustiano; son Jose Angel Barrientos and wife, Manuela; son Tomas Barrientos and wife Yanet; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Palbearers will be Javier Olvera, Marco Barrientos, Joe Angel Barrientos, Ricky Lopez, Eddy Meraz and Jose Gomez.
