Josefa Herrera

Dedicated Wife, Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great and Great-Great Grandmother Joséfa Carrillo Herrera, age 90, of Odessa, Texas, passed into God's hands on May 12, 2016, she was surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. Her life was a wonderful example of faith, hope and selfless giving to anyone she encountered! Joséfa's joy in life was her family, friends, curing all ailments and gardening. Joséfa Herrera Carrillo was born March 13, 1928, in Monclova Coahuila, Mexico to Luz Carrillo and Bernardo Carrillo Reyes. She and her husband Ignacio Herrera brought their eleven children to Odessa to have a better life and she accomplished her goal through faith, patience, hard work and determination. She was fortunate to have traveled the world and everyone that met her felt her faith, peace and tranquility. In Odessa she was a devoted member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. She is survived by her siblings Arturo Carrillo, Servando Carrillo, Martha Carrillo and Maria del Socorro Carrillo; her sons Ignacio (Gloria) Herrera, Miguel Herrera, Jose (Patricia) Herrera, Pedro (Stephanie) Herrera, Ricardo Herrera, daughters Socorro (Jose) Garza, Alicia (Hector) Molinar, Rosario (Dennis) Bard, Maria (Braum) Hoban, Rosa (David) Flanders. She had 21 grandchildren, over 24 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her wonderful husband of 31 years; her siblings; Bernardo, Maria del Carmen, Maria de Jesus, Ramon Carrillo and her son Francisco Herrera.

Rosary prayer service and viewing at the Martinez Funeral Friday 13, 2016 at 7:00 pm. 1040 S. Dixie Blvd Odessa, TX 79761, followed by a Memorial Mass, 11:00AM, Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church 7601 North Grandview Avenue Odessa, TX 79765. Burial 1:00PM at the Ector County Cemetery 300 South Dixie Blvd Odessa, TX 79761.
