JOSHUA MATTHEW "JOSH" ARANA
July 3, 1990 - April 10, 2016

The passing from this earth of 25-year old Joshua Matthew "Josh" Arana, has been a heart-rending and bittersweet experience for his family and friends, whose lives were deeply touched by this remarkable young man. He was, to many, the go-to person who could lift anyone out of a case of the doldrums; the first person you called if you needed help of any kind; or the reigning champ-"Strong Man"-of arm-wrestling matches that was challenged by those who were brave enough to do so-although you just never knew if Josh was going to play it straight or tease you right into losing a match! Facebook has been inundated with dozens of posts, videos, and photos of Josh from loving friends and family who are distressed by his sudden passing. Josh would have made plans to watch Kobe Bryant's last NBA basketball game, and would've been Coach Daddy to his son, Jaden-Josh's Mini-Me-in all his athletic and life's endeavors.

Josh went to be with the Lord, and other members of the Arana and Trevino families, on Sunday, April 10, 2016, in Hobbs, New Mexico. He was born in Odessa, Texas, on July 3, 1990, to Martin C. Arana and Alicia McClain. Josh attended school in Hobbs, New Mexico, and graduated from Hobbs High School in 2008, where he was a star linebacker for the Hobbs Eagles for two years on the varsity football squad. He attended Hobbs Jr. College, and was a member of the semi-professional Hobbs Tigers Rugby Team in New Mexico. Josh's Grandpa Joe Arana-a professional athlete in a West Texas baseball league in the 50s-would've been front and center at his grandson Josh's rugby games. We can now envision Grandpa Joe and Josh enjoying heavenly conversation about their athletic pursuits on earth. Josh's Surviving Family members are:

• Parents Martin C. "MC" Arana, wife Betty; Alicia McClain and her husband Danny;
• Son Jaden Arana;
• Brother, John Gabriel Arana, and daughter, Kya;

Josh is preceded in death by his Brother, Martin Anthony Arana; paternal Grandfather Joe Arana; Uncle Raul C. Arana; Cousin Rachel Arana Jones; Aunt Mary Margaret Arana; maternal Grandparents Jose and Francisca Trevino; and, Aunt Mary Rayos.
Josh is at rest, and his parents, son, siblings, friends, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins will hold him closely in the cradles of their hearts through treasured memories. All are asked to remember his dynamic and powerful personality, his vigorous zeal for life, and his tender-hearted generosity of spirit. Josh's extraordinary personality and energizing heart affected so many in profound ways, and he will be remembered with cherished fondness. Even if he called some of his special friends "Jerk," we know it was in love and affection!

JOHN 14:1-27. 1"Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me," said the Lord Jesus Christ. 2"In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4And you know the way to where I am going." 5Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?" 6Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him."

"I think the hardest part of losing someone isn't having to say goodbye, but rather, learning to live without them; always trying to fill the void, the emptiness that's left inside your heart when they go." - For My Angel (FB post, Paul Prewozniak)
