Juan Galvan

Juan Garcia Galvan, 95 of Progreso, TX. He passed away peacefully on Monday October 7, 2024, in Odessa, TX. Juan was born March 10, 1929, to Gregorio and Petra Garcia Galvan in Progreso, TX. He attended school up until the age of 8.

Juan Galvan and Irene Maldonado Galvan were together for 76 years. He worked as a migrant worker, Co-op gin operator, farmer and at the end of his working career for the Ector County Road and Bridge. His hobbies were fishing, gambling, gardening, and conversating with others. 

Mr. Galvan is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Galvan, Marcella Galvan, Celestino Galvan, Blas Galvan, Trinidad Anguiano, Estefana Galvan, Maria Langley, Carlos Galvan, Gregorio Galvan, Guillermo Rodriguez, and Evander Mateo Sosa.

Juan is survived by his wife of 76 years Irene Maldonado Galvan, children Linda Hernandez, Juan Galvan, Francesca Rodriguez, Sylvester (Leticia) Galvan, Estella (Andrew) Arellano, Sylvia Rogers, Janie Galvan, Mary (Randy) Sosa, and Josie Galvan.

Mr. Galvan also leaves to cherish his memory 15 grandchildren Manuel Rodriguez, Sylvester Galvan, Yvonne Rodriguez, Ezekiel Galvan, Christa Galvan, Benjamin Galvan, Gabriella Galvan, Juan Selso Sosa, Maryssa Sosa, Charissa Arellano, Sergio Galvan, Isabella Sosa, Andrea Arellano, Joshua Rogers and Santiago Sosa. 24 great-grandchildren Aubrey & Conner Rodriguez, Sydney, Sloan & Sinclaire Rodriguez, Gabriella & Brianna Meza, Ignacio, Joseph, Annaliese, Maria, and Lucia Galvan, Adalynn & Abrielle Torres, Luna & Orion Galvan, Sebastian Galvan, Eva Marie & Raela Sosa, Augustine & Avyian Carrasco, and Alani & Analia Zuniga. 

Visitation is set for Wednesday October 9, 2024, from 1PM-9PM with a rosary at 7PM with Saul Palma saying the rosary.

Mass is set for 10AM Thursday October 10, 2024, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Carlos Rodriguez officiating.

Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery in the Odessa II section. 

Pallbearers will be Sylvester, Ezekiel, Benjamin, and Sergio Galvan, Juan Selso, and Santiago Sosa.
