Judy Elrod Ramsey

January 9, 1949 — February 23, 2025

Judy Elrod Ramsey, 76, went to be with the Lord on February 23, 2025 in Odessa, Texas. She was born on January 9, 1949 in San Angelo, Texas. She grew up in Rankin, Texas before graduating from Monterey High School in Lubbock in 1967. She was married to William (Bill) Clary from 1966-1975, and had two children, Kyle and Kelly. She married Jerry Ramsey in 1978.

Judy had a vibrant spirit and a personality that left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She never met a stranger and always saw the best in people. No matter what challenges life brought her way, she never lost her sense of humor.

Throughout her life, Judy embraced many passions. In her youth, she played basketball, was a majorette, and enjoyed barrel racing. Her creativity shone through her talent for painting and arts and crafts. She also loved socializing with friends and family and had a special fondness for playing cards and dominoes.

She worked for John Smith as a legal secretary for many years before going to work for Ector County Independent School District in Odessa, Texas, from which she retired. She and her husband, Jerry, enjoyed their retirement on a ranch they purchased in 2002 in Junction, Texas.

Judy was a devoted Christian and attended 1 Faith Community Church as well as First United Methodist in Junction, Texas. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided her through the years.

She is survived by her son, Kyle Clary, his wife Helen, and their two children, Parker and Peyton Clary; her daughter, Kelly Clary, and her three children, Bailey, Tatum, and Canon Truitt; as well as Tatum’s son, Rusten Bizzell; her step-daughter, Jan Fitzhugh, and her husband, Carl; step-son, Eddie Ramsey and wife Gisela. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Bettie Elrod, and her husband, Jerry Ramsey.

We would like to give a special thanks to Interim Home Health and to Cornerstone Caregiving. Amanda, Taylor, Sara, Jolynn and all others that came in and took care of “my Judy.” To CiCi, the love and care you showed her, will never be forgotten. You truly are part of our family now.

Judy’s warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her.
