Kimani Prai'shaun Butler

Kimani Prai’shaun Butler, 21 years old, of Odessa TX, departed this life on April 1st, 2024 in Odessa at his home. Kimani was born in Odessa, TX. to Shemeka Butler and James Spears on August 8, 2002.  He attended school in Odessa.  As a young child Kimani attended the Rose of Sharon MBC where he was an active participant in the youth department. During his time on earth, Kimani made many friends of which he held dearly to himself as if they were family. Kimani was called “Nani”, a very dear nickname given to him by his mother, had several different nicknames blessed upon him by the people he loved and that loved him. Being very athletic, he played soccer as a child and later as a teenager participated in boxing.  He was the type of person who people always found themselves wanting to be close to.   Kimani pushed people to look past their excuses and accomplish their goals while always being there if any of his loved ones were in a bind. He lived his life to the fullest, always looking to the future.

Kimani is preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents Doris D. Collins and Ruth Watkins; paternal great grandparents James and Ida Mae Butler; paternal grandmother Catherine Spears Warren; grandfather James Edward Butler, great uncle Bobby Washington, Aunt: Takisha “Annie” Spears; Cousins: Samuel Collins, Venesta Thurman Davis, Andrew Thurman (Champ), Antwon Thurman, Lonnie and Mae Reese, and Crishean Butler.

Kimani leaves to cherish his memory his mother Shemeka Butler and his father James Earl Spears.   Three brothers: Anthony Montano-Butler (Beth), Serious Butler, and Devin Spears. Maternal grandmother Consuela Harmon, Granny Carol Spears, paternal grandfather James E. Warren IV. Aunts: Dottie Collins, Wanda Dixon (Winston), Vera Lee, Phyllis Royal, Alice Butler, Jackie Butler, and Shana Butler. Uncles: Henry McDowell, Darius Collins (EVA), Farris Collins (Susan), Terrance Collins-Williams Sr. James E Warren (Papa) and Barry Spears. Cousins: Minister Gene O. Collins (Joann),  Hubert Collins (Debra) , Na’te Hearne, Micheal Coley, Breshon Butler, Dan’breque McCall-Butler, Terrance Collins-Williams II ,Isaiah Collins-Williams, Christopher Collins, Brianna and Arianna Collins, Kion and Dion Spears, Savion Cantrell,  Rotavia Scruggs (Henry), Anisha Salmon, and Vonteesha McSwain, Nashavia Thurman, Ashobi Thurman, Syrennyti Thurman, Willie Thurman, and Michelle Thurman. Kimani has a plethora of relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
