Laurence Christian

Laurence Christian, 69, departed this life on September 11, 2021, in Borger, Texas. Laurence "Black" Christian was born April 18, 1952, in Colorado City, TX. Laurence was the 15th child of 16 children born to Frank and Josephine Christian.

Laurence started school in Colorado City, TX. Then the family moved to Odessa, TX. Where he attended school at Hays, Blackshear, and Ector High School. Laurence was baptized at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church. As a young man he entered the military by joining the Navy in 1970 until his honorable discharge.

Upon returning from military service, Laurence worked for the City of Odessa for many years until he retired. On June 7,1984, Laurence married Dale Marie McKinney. Laurence loved to fish, play bingo and dominoes. He had much love for his cat, Midnight. Anytime you saw Laurence he was guaranteed to have a lottery ticket in his hand ready
to scratch. Laurence’s smile will be truly missed by many. Laurence is preceded in death by his wife: Dale Marie Christian; brothers: Chester Christian and Baby Boy Christian; sisters: Wanda Faye Christian, Vernice Christian, Bennie Starling, Willie Mae Haynes, and Lucille Christian.

He leaves to cherish his memory brothers: Fred (Emma) Christian of Riverdale, CA, Charles Christian of Mesquite, TX, Ivory (Ora) Christian and Alvin (Ginger) Christian of Odessa, TX; Curtis Christian of Atlanta, GA, Kenneth (Helen) Christian of San Marcos, TX; sisters: Barbara Armstrong of Fort Worth, TX and Frankie Mae Davis of Odessa, TX, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
