Lidia Coy Ponce, 68, of Odessa Texas was called home to join our Lord on Saturday, August 21,2021.
Lidia was born in Taft, Texas to Helen Molina on June 16, 1953. She spent most of her childhood in Universal City, eventually moving to San Angelo and then Odessa, her final resting place. She held various jobs during her lifetime and had a green thumb with a love for all plants. She was known to pull a stem or two when she encountered a plant that she liked so that she could grow on her own at home. She also enjoyed music and dancing, you could catch Lidia listening to her music full volume throughout the day and if you were lucky enough, she’d play her tambourine for you too.
More than anything else, Lidia loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and showed unconditional love to all. Many will remember Lidia for the cute animal hats she wore and the endless compliments she gave to anyone she encountered hoping to make their day just a little brighter.
Lidia is preceded in death by her sister, Maria Molina, and will join her daughter, Natalie Nicole, whom she’s longed to see.
Lidia is survived by her children; son, Israel Ponce and wife Delfina of Odessa, daughter Dolores Zapata of San Angelo, grandchildren Israel Ponce Jr, Zariah Soto, Alexia Soto, Natalie Booker, Jasmine Booker, and great grandchildren Joziah Nabarrette and Audryella Nabarrette. Also survived by her siblings Jerry Molina, Angela Molina, Diana Molina and David Garcia all of San Angelo.
The family wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to Dr. Ronald Gibbons and staff for years of excellent care and genuine concern for Lidia. As well as the staff at Madison Medical Resort for caring for Lidia daily, and making sure her spirits remained high during the stressful times of the pandemic.
