Lorraine W. Collins was born April 15, 1943 to Jessie Mae and Johnny A. Walker in College Station, Texas. She earned her heavenly wings on September 23, 2017 in Odessa, Texas. She was an alumni of Blackshear High School where she excelled in track and field. She retired from Medical Center Hospital after many years of service. She was a longtime faithful member of Greater Saint John Baptist Church where she served on the usher board, sang in the choir and worked with the youth until her health failed. She was a very loving and caring person who never met a stranger and always met you with a beautiful smile. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Dessie and Hattie and one brother, Sylvester Sr. She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 53 years, Mose Collins, Sr. of Odessa, TX; her daughter, Deidra (Rev. Keenan) Broadus from Ft. Worth, TX; two sons, Mose Jr. Collins (Melissa) of Odessa, TX and George Collins (Michelle) of Odessa, TX; 14 grandchildren, Jermaine, Malika, Tristian, Shawn, Robert, Joshua, Nathaniel, Jared, Jalen, Jordan, Jacob, Keeson, Kares, and Geonee; 9 great grandchildren and 2 step-children, Tony Coleman of Odessa and Mozelle Thompson of Ft. Worth, TX; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Carter of Odessa, TX and Ann Sheppard of Ft. Worth, TX; two brothers, Charlie (Annis) Walker of Big Lake, TX and Ray (Edith) Walker of Victorville, CA; 3 special daughters, Lesia Young, Slvia Diana Ellis Wilson and Kathryne Taylor Hill and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held today Thursday September 28, 2017 from 9am to 9pm & Friday September 29, 2017 from 9am to 5pm at Martinez Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10am Saturday September 30, 2017 at Greater St. John Baptist Church with Reverends: Keenan C. Broadus & E. J. Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services entrusted to Martinez Funeral Home.
