Louise Virginia Cleaver, age 94, passed away into the arms of Jesus on September 2, 2023. She was born on April 16, 1929, in Carthage, TX, to the union of Leonard Everhart and Bertha Lee Beck. She was one of seven children.
She moved to Odessa in the early 1940s. She attended Blackshear Junior Senior High School and Wilson Beauty School, where she received her cosmetology license. She later was employed with her sister, Elva Jay, at Personality Beauty Shop.
Louise married Frank L. Cleaver on December 16, 1950. Louise was the co-owner of Snappy’s BBQ and Catering for over 30 years, working beside her husband, Frank L. Cleaver. She was the friendly smile and quiet voice behind the successful business.
Bethlehem Baptist Church was her family's church home for over 50 years. She truly believed in God as her loving savior. Her hobbies were the love of reading and watching tennis. She had a gift for music.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank "Snappy" Cleaver, daughter Latressa Rene Cleaver, son Roydell "Butch" Cleaver, brothers Willie Charles Everhart, J. C. "Mike" Everhart, and Charles William "C. W." Everhart, and sisters Elva Jay Upshaw and Mary Jean Moten.
Left to mourn her precious and beautiful memories: sister Edith "Peat" Daniels of Paramount, CA; daughters Pamela (Alfred) Lee and Bertha "Toni" (Ronald) Lee of Odessa, TX; and Patricia "Blonde" Wilson of Forney, TX; 7 grandchildren Nichole Burton and Tiffany Wilson of Los Angeles, CA; Brandi Cleaver of Madison, TN; Charles (Angie) Gordon of Boise, ID; Denish (Derrick) Simon of Mesquite, TX; Pamela (Shone) Sanders of Waxahachie, TX; Patrick (Maye) Wilson of Forney, TX; 6 great grandchildren Akia Odom and Juan Richardson of Los Angeles, CA; Brendon and Ellis Cleaver of Madison, TN; Mason Wilson of Forney, TX; and Jamel Owens of San Marcos; 1 great-great granddaughter, Maliyah Sowell of Los Angeles, CA; brothers-in-law Gregory Cleaver of Duncan, OK; Darrell (Teresa) Cleaver of Ranger, TX; Andy (Debbie) of Ranger, TX; Jessie L. Cleaver of Duncan, OK; 1 special nephew, Shawn Daniels of Paramount, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
The family of Louise Cleaver would like to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation for all the love, kindness and thoughtful gestures that have been bestowed upon us during this time of bereavement.
Visitation is set from 1:00PM-9:00PM Wednesday September 13, 2023 at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Cleaver has been set for 10:00AM Thursday September 14, 2023 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Darren Willis Officiating.
Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery ~ Rosehill Section.
