Our beloved mom and granny, 88 years of age, Lupe Leija Mata, has gone to be with Jesus on April 21, 2024.
She lived a long and beautiful life surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Lupe loved to sew, be outside with her flowers, sit for a long time coloring, and she loved to eat at Rosas Café. She was always quilting for all of her family members and even with her age she loved to cook and make fresh tortillas.
Lupe was married to Tomas for 36 years until he passed on in 1998. Together they built a strong foundation of family and their house to this day is filled with love and laughter.
She Lupe is preceded in death by her husband Tomas, her sons Sammy and Joe Mata, parents Jose and Juanita Leija, brothers, 1 sister, and great grandson Noah Kai Russell.
Survivors include daughters Joann (Mario) Garcia and Terri Nabarrete, son Tommy Jr. (Bobbie) Mata, 27 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren, and 38 great, great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank our family, friends, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Father Chavez, and Martinez Funeral Home for the flowers, visits, food, and prayers.
Pallbearers will be Miguel, Issaiah, and Isaac Garcia, Sabas Nabarrete III, Tomas Gomez III, and Ricky Russell.
