Margie Sandoval (79) of Odessa, Texas, passed away on March 13, 2023 at her home in Odessa surrounded by loved ones.
Visitation will be held at Martinez Funeral Home on Thursday March 16, 2023 from 1:00PM – 9:00PM with a Rosary at 7:00PM.
Funeral Service will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on Friday March 17, 2023 at 10:00AM. Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery in the Rose Hill Section.
Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home.
Margie was born on March 22, 1943, in Odessa, Texas to Petra Doporto Hernandez and Manuel Hernandez. She married Ernesto Sandoval on September 16, 1959. She worked as a teacher’s aide for ECISD for many years and absolutely loved her job. She was very outgoing and never met a stranger. She was a 46 year cancer survivor and was a great example of yearly health screening and early detection. She was brave, resilient, and served as a mentor to other cancer patients. She loved her cancer painting classes and the friendships she forged there.
Margie loved life and life loved her. Her hobbies included camping and fishing; casinos and bingo, traveling and making new friends everywhere she went. She enjoyed a good laugh and had a mischievous sense of humor and made the world’s best tortillas. She was lovingly known as “Memaw” to her 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren whom she fiercely loved, protected, and spoiled.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Petra and Manuel Hernandez, Brothers; Manuel Hernandez, Alfred Hernandez, Sam Hernandez and Ben Hernandez and her Sisters; Mary Hernandez and Jessie Hernandez.
Margie is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Ernesto; her Best Friends and Daughters; Diane Sandoval (Robby Bray), Patsy Sanchez (Ruben Sanchez), Otila Herrera (Chris Lerma), Nephew/Son; Domingo Hernandez Jr. (Edith), Grandchildren; Veronica Aguilar (Josh), Isaac Sanchez, Alexander Sanchez, Karissa Herrera and Ryan Herrera (Gabby), Great-Grandchildren; Noah Sanchez, Bella Hernandez, Mason Aguilar, Brayden Aguilar, Camila Aguilar, Brailynn Herrera and Lily Herrera. She is also survived by her Sister; Rosa Fabela, and her brother; Jesus Hernandez.
Margie was a small lady who leaves a giant void with her passing. She will be dearly missed.
