Maria Celia Lara Cadena, 90, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister passed away on January 14, 2021 in Odessa, TX. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 24,2021 from 1-9, with the Rosary being held at 7 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Monday, January 25, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church at 1p.m. with burial to follow at Peaceful Gardens, Ector County Cemetery. Maria was born in Alpine, TX to Jose U. Lara & Gertrudis (Tula) 0 Lara on May 24,1930. She attended Centennial School in Alpine, TX. She married John Joe N Cadena Sr. in February of 1947 in Alpine, TX. Maria worked in the dry-cleaning business until retirement. She loved working in her yard, planting flowers & growing veggies in her garden. She enjoyed listening to music, loved to sing along, and dance. Her kids were her most prized possessions. She will be dearly missed but NEVER forgotten. Maria is preceded in death by her parents Jose. U. Lara and Gertrudis (Tula) O. Lara, Her grandmother, Rosario (Mama Chaya) Galindo, Her grandson Michael A. Sanchez, Her brothers Joe Lara Jr. (Chito), Willie Lara, Efren Lara, Alfredo Lara, and her sisters Guadalupe Gonzales and Annabelle Navarro. Maria is survived by her children: Daughters Gracie Cadena and partner Monica Rodriguez; Diana Chavez and Husband Raymond Chavez of Odessa, TX; Annabelle Sanchez of Midland, TX; Olga Quiroz of Arlington, Tx. Her son John Joe Cadena Jr. and partner Mary Marlow of Trinidad, TX. Sisters Anita Galindo & Gloria Nabarrette of Odessa, TX; Brother Daniel O. Lara of New Mexico. She has 10 Grandkids, 25 Great Grandkids, and 6 Great, Great Grandkids. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Joe Cadena Jr., Gracie Cadena, Noah Rodriguez, & Max Chavez. Pallbearers will be Ryan Rodriguez, Allen Cadena, Dustan Cadena, Steve Chavez, Raymond Sanchez, & Jeremy Quiroz. The family of Maria Cadena wishes to extend our sincere thanks to her care givers Esther Carrillo & Ernestina Sanchez, Home Hospice & their caring staff & nurses Debbie Harris, Robin Floyd, Carolyn Lujan, Shelly Mallard, Tyler Lowrey, & Elizabeth Brock.
