Maria de La Luz Leyva, better known as Malu to her friends and family, and Mami to her grandchildren, passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 78 on Sunday November 26, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones. Malu was born in Juarez, Mexico on December 25, 1944 to Jesus Macias and Teodora Cruz. Malu Leyva is preceded in death by her husband Ramon Leyva and her son Juan Macias Leyva.
Malu was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and remarkable cook. She loved sitting in her kitchen conversing with her family around the dinner table.
Malu is survived by her son Ruben Leyva, son Ramon Leyva and his wife Alma and her daughters in law Neeley Taylor and Sandra Lujan. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren Alex, Josh, Ruby, Allie, Dulce, Herman, Alyssa, Estrella, Tanya, Yasmin, Joel, Yesenia, Jackie, John David and Noemi along with her 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1pm to 9pm on Tuesday November 28th, 2023 at Iglesia Del Dios Vivo.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday November 29th, 2023 at Iglesia Del Dios Vivo. Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery Los Angeles Section at 11:30 am.
The Leyva family wants to extend gratitude to family, friends, the staff at Medical Center Hospital, Home Hospice and Martinez Funeral Home.
