Maria Ramirez Duran of Odessa, Texas passed away September 28, 2020 at the age of 66. Maria was born February 25, 1954, in Balmorhea Texas, and resided there for most of her life. She moved to Odessa to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was a dedicated employee at the Focus Nursing Home for numerous years and had a passion for taking care of others. Maria was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as a grandmother. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. Maria truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, music, and especially watching wrestling with her grandchildren. She was best known for greeting everyone with her infectious smile and warm hugs. Maria was loved by so many and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. We ask that you keep her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of an extraordinary woman.
Maria is preceded in death by her sister, Adela Jimenez and brother, Lupe Ornelas.
Maria is the loving and devoted mother of Betty and her husband Jesus Pina of Odessa and Michael Ornelas of Odessa, Adored Grandmother of Joshua Ramirez, Jonathon Ramirez and Brandi Pina, all of Odessa Loving daughter of Alejandra Ornelas of Balmorhea. Dear sister of Aurora Duran of Iraan, Irma Ornelas of Odessa, Santos Acosta of Midland, Peggy Ornelas of Odessa, Martina Allen of San Angelo, Graciela Orrantia of Tatum, New Mexico, Raul Ornelas of Odessa, Juan Ornelas of Odessa and Joe Ornelas of Balmorhea. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews
Visitation: between 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Martinez Funeral Home
Funeral Mass will scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church 612 E 18th Street in Odessa with Father Benardito officiating.
Burial will follow at The Balmorhea Cemetery at 2:00 P.M.
Pallbearers: Salvador Duran, Byron Johnson, Louis Duran, Mark Duran, DJ Anchondo, Martin Allen, Thad Dauteuil, and Sayd Ramirez.
