Maria Luisa (Vicha) Hernandez, 96, of Odessa, Texas went to be with our Heavenly Father on February 20, 2017 at Medical Center Hospital. Maria was born in Presidio, Texas to Casimiro and Fransisca Munoz on February 5, 1921. She was married to Pedro Hernandez. She worked as a housekeeper at the Inn of the Golden West for 10 years. Her love of God brought her much joy and she enjoyed cleaning the altar and cleaning and maintaining the Nuestro Padre Jesus at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Maria was a devoted Catholic and served God and His people with humility and love. She was a member of St. Joseph's C.W.O., Sacred Heart of Jesus, Cursillistas, Guadalupana, and was a lector. She recited many rosaries for people known and unknown and she was a volunteer at Catholic Charities for many years.
Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Hernandez; mother, Fransisca Ornelas Munoz; father, Casimiro Munoz; sisters, Carmen Hernandez and Juana Munoz; brother, Juan Munoz; two sons, Enrique Dominguez and Jose Luis Hernandez; four baby girls; two grandsons, Edward and Jose Alfredo Aguirre; granddaughters, Rosemary Aguirre, Christina Hernandez, and Baby Aguirre.
She is survived by sons, Noe Hernandez, Pedro (Pedrin) and wife, Eva Hernandez; daughters Maria Jesus and husband, Jesus Aguirre; Guadalupe and husband, Nicholas Flotte; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Pall bearers will be, Noe Hernandez, Don Kruger, Jose Luis Hernandez, Miguel Angel Hernandez, Steven Ray Reyes, Pedro Andres Hernandez, Ruben Edward Hernandez and Joshua Marc Aguirre.
Rosary will be Friday at 7:00 p.m. at 800 S. Gulf. Viewing at 800 S. Gulf St. Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Chavez officiating on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home. under the direction of Funeral Directors Joel Gonzales & Nancy Olvera.
The family wishes to praise God in thanksgiving for blessing us with the opportunity to know and love such a beautiful and godly woman for so many years. All praise and honor to our Heavenly Father.
