Martin Gomez Acosta also known as “Dad,” 68 of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023, in Midland, Texas. Martin was born in Marathon, Texas to Saturnino Delao Acosta and Eduviges Gomez Acosta on September 11, 1954. Martin was a hardworking cowboy all his life. His passion was horses and instructing his daughter and granddaughter the knowledge that his father instilled in him was passed on. Dad always gave his pep talks about his faith to all who would listen. His love for God was endless and his faith remained strong until his ending days. He was a passionate and loving dad and granddad. He leaves behind one hell of a legacy. Dad, we are proud of you for your courage, fight, and struggle through your sickness. Always love your kids.
Martin is preceded in death by his parents, Saturnino and Eduviges Acosta, sister Eduviges A. Ramirez, brother Frank G. Acosta and nephew Armando Celaya.
Martin also leaves behind to cherish his memory of his children. Priscilla Acosta of Midland, Texas; Lionel Acosta of Midland, Texas; and Klarissa Acosta of Medina, Texas; sisters Chavela Celaya of Casa Grande, AZ; Espi Gutierrez of Midland, Texas; Manuela Rodriguez of Dallas, Texas; Maria Granado of Midland, Texas; and Josie Acosta of Odessa, Texas; brothers John Acosta of Crane, Texas and Armando Acosta of Odessa, Texas; seven grandchildren Jacob Rick Castaneda, Bianca Eduvijes Castaneda, Anysa Marie Castaneda, Angelinah Marie Alvarez, Ethen Eric Acosta, Gilly Alvarez, and Kataleyah Autumn Contreras, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family of Martin Gomez Acosta wishes to extend our sincere thanks to his friend/caregiver Thomas Salcido and Genesis Hospice. Private services will be held.
