Mary Edna Ontieveroz of Odessa passed away, reuniting with loved ones on Thursday, November 1, 2018 in Odessa, Texas.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 6PM - 9PM & Monday, November 5, 2018 from 9am - 9pm, A Rosary will be recited at 7PM at Martinez Funeral Home.
Funeral mass will be Celebrated at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Edna was born in New Mexico on January 5, 1930. She married Frank Ontiveroz on May 24, 1963. She worked most of her life as a public service worker for Comet Cleaners and Odessa Regional Hospital, where she retired. She was a devout Catholic. She spent most of her life caring for her loyal parrot Julio, her birds, Pomeranian and various cats and dogs. She enjoyed working on ceramics and later included her grandchildren in the classes. She was a true advocate of deep ironing her clothes and sheets. She enjoyed taking long trips to New Mexico with the grandchildren in tow and having the opportunity to share her history with them. She spent most of her later years, crocheting blankets and dish towels while watching novelas and the local news.
Edna is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Ontiveroz, daughters Frances Salazar, Peggy Grandlund and Matilda Sandoval and grandson Bobby Grandlund.
Edna is survived by her daughter Helen Ontiveroz, son, Richard Ontiveroz, twenty one grandchildren, fifty great grandchildren, her private cat and her most protective dog, Blackie.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.
Flower arrangements and memorials may be given to Martinez Funeral Home. The family of Edna Ontiveroz wishes to extend our sincere thanks to each person who touched Edna's life and blessed her with your presence and support. She was a proud individual and she left us with her rightful independence and her dignity in full force. You touched many lives and we will sincerely miss you.
