Melvin Watson

Melvin L. Watson, 70, passed away on December 14th, 2022 in Odessa, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am, December 22nd, 2022 at Texas & Clements Church of Christ with Devon DeShields of Texas and Clements Church of Christ, Officiating. Burial will follow at American Heritage. Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home.

Melvin Loyd Watson was born in Midland, Texas to Mildred Price on February 29th, 1952 and was raised by his grandmother Rose Lee Tisdale and George Tisdale. He graduated from Midland High School. In 1971, he married Elizabeth Woodberry and from this union one daughter was born. On November 23, 1975, he married Ardia Mayse, his present wife and from this union two sons were born.

He was a hard worker and those that knew him often saw him with his boys mowing yards and yes even his girls. He was quick to defend his beliefs and often said that "a man is only as good as his word" and "if you say you're going to do something, do it." A true handyman and Jack of all trades, from fixing a water heater, digging a sewer line or hanging a ceiling fan to hanging Christmas lights and installing doors and windows. If it needed to be done, Melvin could do it. He loved family, Dr. Pepper, Snickers and lottery tickets. He worked for J&J Steel, Phillips 66, Go Project Headstart, and Southwest 66 Credit Union.

He is Preceded in death by his mother Mildred Price, his grandmother Rose Lee Tisdale and her husband George Tisdale.

Left to cherish his memory are his: wife Ardia WAtson, daughters, Dodianne Watson of Midland, Shaterra Watson of Odessa, sons, Jeremy Watson (ruth) of Odessa, Dorian Watson (Denecia) of Midland, Sister, Lillie Jones of Midland, brothers, Edward Watson of denver, Colorado, Ivy Jones of Midland. four grandchildren and four great grandchildren
