Merced Gomez

Merced Prieto Gomez 97, of Odessa, passed away Thursday February 9, 2023, in Odessa. Merced was born to Alberto and Valentina Baeza Prieto August 9, 1925, in San Bernardino California. She married Ramon S. Gomez, August of 1955.

Merced was a devout Baptist Christian woman and housewife and raised 5 children. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Many years later she became a member of Iglesia El Mesias Baptist church for many many years.

She is preceded in death by her only son Ramon S. Gomez Jr.in 1986, and her husband Ramon S.  Gomez in 1998.

She is survived by her 4 daughters: Tina Flores, Ilda Sanchez, Delma Longoria, and Adelia Dominguez (Alfonso "Choncho" Dominguez)

Merced leaves to cherish her memory 10 grandchildren: Jesse Flores (Anna Flores) Joe Muñoz, Orlando Subía (Rosa Subía) Veronica Huertas (Freddy Huertas) Yvonne Subía, Jason Gomez (Sarahi Gomez) Anthony Muñoz, Martin Longoria, Aaron Domínguez (Marrissa Domínguez), Victoria Longoria and 19 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.

We, the family, would like to send a big thank you to the Buena Vida Nursing Home staff for the care provided for our mother during her stay.

Visitation is set for Wednesday February 15, 2023, from 1:00PM-9:00PM with a Prayer service at 8:00PM at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services are set for 1:00PM Thursday February 16, 2023, at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel with pastor Jesus Gutierrez officiating.

Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery Rosehill section.
