Micaela U. Vuelvas
Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother Micaela U. Vuelvas passed away peacefully on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Medical Center Hospital Odessa, Texas. She was 92 years old. Mom was born in Buena Vista, Chihuahua, Mexico to Felix Urias and Juana Venegas. She married Juan C. Vuelvas in Pecos, Texas. Mom last worked in food service at Ector Jr./Sr. High. She was involved in the St. Anthony's Guadalupanas, Legion de Maria and served as a Eucharistic minister. Mom was also a Cursillista and lived her Cursillo in San Angelo in the '60's. She was a powerful prayer warrior responsible for educating her family on the power of prayer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Juana Urias, husband, Juan C. Vuelvas, her sisters Maria, Paula, Demetria, Regina, and brothers Sotero, Joaquin, Jesus, Jose, Nepo, and Felix. Mom was also preceded in death by two grandsons Miguel Grado, Rudy Urias, one great-grandson Nano Urias, and one great-granddaughter Arianie Rose Tijerina.
Immediate survivors are her children Johnny J. Vuelvas (Betty), Florentino Vuelvas (Yolanda), Norma Gomez (David), Socorro Grado (Fernando) and her brother Jose Maria Urias.
Micaela also leaves to cherish her memory 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is set for Thursday July 25, 2024, from 1PM-9PM with a rosary at 7PM at Martinez Funeral Home chapel.
Mass is set for 10AM Friday July 26, 2024, at St Anthony’s Catholic Church 1321 W. Monahans St. Odessa, TX 79761, with Father’s Joseph Uecker and David Herrera officiating.
Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery Rosehill section 300 S. Dixie Blvd. Odessa, Tx 79761.
Pallbearers are Johnny J. Vuelvas II, Mateo Vuelvas, Tino Vuelvas, John Urias, Chris Martinez, and Oscar Holguin.
We the family would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Abijay, Dr. Boccalandro, Dr. Le, Star Hospice, and the nursing staff at Medical Center Hospital. In addition, thanks to Father Joseph Uecker for the special service at Medical Center and for celebrating the funeral mass.
